On September 27, 2008 the CTV crew traveled to Deerfield Beach High School to compete against other journalism programs in District 7. The convention featured competitions in broadcast and print journalism, along with seminars given by professionals in the industry. CTV competed and placed in three competitions.

FSPA District 7 is the largest district in the state of Florida. On Saturday, September 29th, 2007, CTV travelled to Deerfield Beach High School to compete in several carry in and on-the-spot broadcast journalism contests.

In May, CTV Advisor Mr. Alfredo Pichardo's hard work and determination finally paid off when he was awarded BTN's Teacher Of The Year. Mr. Pichardo puts in long hours to further improve both the CTV and BTN programs. His experience in the field helps prepare his students for their future careers. It is an extremely well deserved award. Congratulations, Mr. Pichardo!

Recently, Broward Teen News wished to recognize outstanding achievement in high school TV production by holding a county-wide News Show Contest. Open to all schools producing a broadcast news, magazine, and entertainment program, CTV was proudly took first place as the best high school news program in Broward County, Florida.

STN or the Student Television Network is made up of affiliate schools from coast to coast with an active interest in furthering scholastic broadcasting and video production. FSPA is a state-wide competition for high school journalism students in the state of Florida. CTV, competing in the broadcast aspect of journalism, participated in the competition held in Tampa, Florida on April 12-14, 2007. To find out more about FSPA, watch Erica Carvalho's report.

Being the first compeition of the year in the most competitive district in the state, the FSPA District 7 competition can be considered one of the most difficult. Held at Deerfield Beach High School, CTV placed in three of the four contests entered. This was the first competition for many of CTV's 2006-2007 news team, but that proved to be no problem at all.
